Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomy (ATB)

ATB is one of Germany's leading research institutes for sustainable agricultural systems, bioeconomy and digital agriculture. The Institute develops innovative technologies and scientific solutions that improve agricultural productivity while reducing environmental impacts, with expertise spanning agricultural engineering, greenhouse gas emissions, environmental monitoring and systems modelling.

ATB leads the project's Model Mapping and Operational Integration, identifying, evaluating and integrating greenhouse gas models for diverse agricultural systems. This work establishes a harmonised modelling approach that supports consistent, transparent and scalable Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) across Europe.

In addition, ATB leads the German pilot, which focuses on conventional dairy cattle systems with intensive housing and manure management. The pilot will test and calibrate the TRACER MRV System by evaluating greenhouse gas emissions associated with enteric fermentation, manure management and slurry storage, supporting the validation of mitigation measures for dairy production systems.
