Expertise: Precision agriculture, digital farming, Earth Observation, remote sensing, environmental sustainability, agricultural engineering
AUA is one of Greece's leading universities in agricultural sciences, with internationally recognised expertise in precision agriculture, digital farming, environmental sustainability and agricultural engineering. Through cutting-edge research and innovation, AUA develops technologies and decision-support solutions that improve agricultural productivity while promoting sustainable resource management and climate resilience.
AUA leads the project's Impact Assessment, Capacity Building and Upscaling Strategies, evaluating the environmental, economic and social impacts of the TRACER MRV System while supporting its long-term adoption across Europe. This work helps ensure that the project's results are practical, scalable and capable of supporting future policy and business uptake.
AUA also leads the integration of Earth Observation and remote sensing technologies into the TRACER MRV System. By evaluating satellite-derived information alongside field data, the University supports the verification of agricultural activities, helping to improve the transparency, accuracy and reliability of greenhouse gas monitoring while reducing reporting burdens for farmers.
In addition, AUA leads the Agroecological Cropping Systems Pilot (Greece), which focuses on Mediterranean cropping systems. The pilot will test and calibrate the TRACER MRV System by evaluating greenhouse gas emissions from agroecological crop management practices, supporting the validation of sustainable farming approaches under Mediterranean conditions.
