University of Leeds
The University of Leeds is one of the United Kingdom's leading research-intensive universities, internationally recognised for its excellence in environmental science, climate research, sustainable agriculture and digital innovation. Through interdisciplinary research, the University develops innovative solutions that address global challenges related to climate change, food systems, land use and environmental sustainability. Its expertise spans agricultural systems, greenhouse gas emissions, environmental modelling and data-driven decision-making, supporting the transition towards more resilient and sustainable farming.
The University of Leeds leads the project's Field Monitoring, Multi-Source Data Integration and Mitigation Measures, bringing together field measurements, sensor data and multiple data sources to support the development and validation of the TRACER MRV System.
The University also contributes its expertise in agricultural greenhouse gas emissions, environmental monitoring and advanced experimental research to strengthen the scientific robustness and accuracy of the project's monitoring and verification approach.
In addition, the University of Leeds leads the Pig-Arable Systems Pilot (England), which focuses on mixed pig-arable farming systems integrating indoor and outdoor pig production with conventional and regenerative arable cropping. The pilot will test and calibrate the TRACER MRV System by evaluating greenhouse gas emissions from slurry management, fertiliser use and agricultural soils, with a particular focus on methane (CH₄), nitrous oxide (N₂O) and ammonia (NH₃).
