Nanjing Agricultural University
Nanjing Agricultural University (NAU) is one of China's leading agricultural universities, internationally recognised for its research in agricultural and environmental sciences, greenhouse gas emissions, nutrient management and sustainable agroecosystems. Through world-class expertise in field experimentation, environmental monitoring and modelling, NAU contributes to the development of innovative solutions for climate-smart and sustainable agriculture.
Country: China
Role: Advanced Modelling | Pilot Lead - China

Expertise: Greenhouse gas modelling, nutrient management, sustainable agroecosystems, environmental monitoring, agricultural systems, climate-smart agriculture
NAU contributes to the project's advanced greenhouse gas modelling and international scientific collaboration, supporting the calibration and validation of the TRACER MRV System using complementary datasets and expertise from Chinese agricultural systems. Its participation strengthens methodological alignment between European and Chinese research and promotes knowledge exchange under the EU–China Food, Agriculture and Biosolutions (FAB) Flagship Initiative.
In addition, NAU leads the Arable Systems for GHG Mitigation Pilot (China), which focuses on rice–wheat and maize-wheat cropping systems with nutrient and organic matter management. The pilot will test and calibrate the TRACER MRV System by evaluating nitrous oxide (N₂O) and methane (CH₄) emissions under diverse arable production systems, supporting the development of more precise greenhouse gas monitoring and mitigation strategies while extending the validation of the TRACER MRV System beyond Europe.
