University of Bristol

The University of Bristol is a leading UK research university with internationally recognised expertise in agricultural systems, livestock production, environmental science and greenhouse gas mitigation. Through interdisciplinary research, the University develops innovative approaches to improve the sustainability of farming systems while supporting evidence-based climate and environmental policy.

The University of Bristol leads the development and validation of the project's farm-level greenhouse gas metrics, ensuring that agricultural emissions can be measured consistently and accurately across diverse farming systems. This work supports the harmonisation of MRV methodologies and enables reliable greenhouse gas reporting from farm to regional scales.

The University also leads the project's field monitoring and mitigation measures, coordinating experimental trials to evaluate agricultural practices that reduce greenhouse gas emissions while improving environmental sustainability. These activities generate the scientific evidence needed to calibrate and validate the TRACER MRV System.

In addition, the University of Bristol leads the Minimising Dairy GHG Pilot (England), which focuses on intensive dairy production systems. The pilot will test and calibrate the TRACER MRV System by evaluating greenhouse gas emissions from livestock, manure management and fertiliser use, supporting the validation of sustainable mitigation strategies for dairy farming.
